Tableware // Design

I create individual tableware designs for restaurants and supper-clubs around London. These are produced in small batches of around 50 - 100 items.

Designed with simplicity and functionality in mind, I create high quality ceramics for restaurants, working with the client to create dishes that will best present their food and creative ethos. Creating an understated backdrop for exquisite food, these ceramic designs tend towards muted, natural tones. Forms are designed with the food in mind, but also the practical considerations of handling and storing the ceramics.

Each pot is handmade using traditional studio pottery techniques; thrown and trimmed on the wheel, and sometimes finished by hand. Once formed the pots are dried slowly, fired to 1000'C to create 'bisqueware' that can then be hand-dipped into glazes and fired again, this time to 1260'C. This intricate process means that each pot is subject to small variations in form and finish that make them unique.

Once designs are finalised with the client small orders take approximately 3 - 4 weeks to produce, with larger orders starting from 6 - 8 weeks.
